popping noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1995 chevy c1500 makes a popping noise when the wheel is cocked all
the way, no matter if it's left or right. I found it happens mostly when I'm
reversing my truck, but I have heard the pop while in drive. I never had this
problem until I updated my entire front suspension. I replaced both upper and
lower control arms (not just the bushings but the entire arms) my tie rods,
pitman arm, idler arm, and center link. I tried keeping all the parts the same
brand (AC Delco) could it just be the brand? or could it be something else?

You should not crank your steering wheel ALL the way to a stop either left or right- this puts a lot of strain on the suspension, steering, etc. ok, they are built to do it, but unless you are in a tight parking spot you should not have to do it- just not good practice- maybe because your suspension is all new, those parts just don't want to stretch that much- think about it, those tires are holding traction in a maximum lock position and putting strain on your suspension parts- and they are audibly complaining- if your truck tracks and drives fine, don't worry about it- just stop cranking it to maximum lock-
