How do I reset the check engine light on a 1997 infiniti j30?

Asked by Terrance Jul 19, 2015 at 08:39 PM about the 1997 INFINITI J30 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have tried disconnecting the battery and
that hasn't changed anything. I have tried
just disconnecting the negative cable and
that didn't work either. It seems like the light
is stuck on.

IF IT WONT reset like that, get the codes from diagnostic test, repair the faults and they will reset it. most codes prevent you from resetting the engine light.

Disconnecting the battery won't do anything to get the light to go off. The problem needs to be repaired and the code needs to be erased. Post the codes here for information on what possibly might be the cause.
