92 Chevy 1500 Lopey/rough idle after letting off gas

Asked by GuruWF2W Apr 01, 2017 at 04:05 PM about the 1992 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Extended Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 92 Chevy 1500, gets a Lopey idle
right after letting off the gas, seems to be
worse in reverse. Starts great and
accelerates great, just seems to get a
rough idle when driving around in town or
backing out of a parking space, only stalls
sometimes when in reverse so far, seems
to do it worse after truck has warmed up.
The Lopey idle does clear up after a couple
seconds which has me lost on what's
going on. I've replaced the fuel filter, IACV,
spark plugs/wires, rotor and cap, cleane
the throttle body as well. Might have
helped a little? Not sure. Example- get to a
stop sign, drove forward accelerates no
hesitation, staying at about 25mph,
approaching another stop sign so I let off
the gas, gets a bad Lopey/rough idle and
acts as if the trucks going to stall, bad idle
last for 2-3 seconds then clears up and
idles normal. Anybody have this issue?
Been looking around but haven't found an
answer yet

May want to check out the EGR Valve, take it off and clean the port and the valve from the carbon build up, make sure it closes and works properly.

Yes I did! I believe it was a clogged EGR valve, I cleaned it out and cleaned the ports out underneath it, I remember it worked great afterword. I can't believe I remember this, it was like years ago lol
