Rough idle, check engine light comes on and a heavy smell of gas in Q45T.

Asked by Martaman614 Sep 16, 2010 at 08:11 AM about the 1994 INFINITI Q45 A RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've had 4 fuel injectors replaced, 2 knock sensors, and a new fuel filter installed.  This quelled some of the rocking at idle, but the check engine light still comes on sporadically and the smell of gas is still there.  Looking for advice from someone familiar with this problems with the Q45.

Once 1 injector goes, eventually, they all are gonna follow suit... Sounds like to me whoever replaced your injectors may possibly have pinched the rubber o-rings during reinstallation, resulting in a leaking injector(s). Your computer is picking up on the fault. By the way, did the repair person clear/reset the computer AFTER the repair? If not, well, the car is gonna run as if something is still causing a problem... by the way, look into pulling the codes from your computer, to see what it shows... might help you pinpoint the problem. There should be a field service manual online that you can access that will list not only the codes, but, a troubleshooting index as well. Lastly, when you DO solve the problem, do the rest of the Q45 family a favor: expose your findings & the problem-solving techniques as well... GOOD LUCK!!!
