I bought my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 new in July and currently has 5,500 miles. Twice now, the first time a couple months ago, upon starting, I wasn't able to shift out of park. My screen tells me to shift out of park and the check-engine light is now on. Eventually after restarting a couple times I got it to work both times. Thoughts? Should I bring it in?

Yes. There is a Safety Recall regarding the shifter. SUMMARY: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured May 15, 2015 to February 19, 2016. The brake transmission shift interlock solenoid may have a loose electrical connection which could result in a loss of solenoid function. Did you ever get this fixed? Mine on start up the shifter light does not turn on but the on the dash shows it's in park which makes me not be able to shift. First this pops up and then after a while the shifter light finally turns on then screen shows service shifter and check engine light will be on during the period. Was told mine was not part of recall. Just wondering what they did for you and if this was the same issue you ran into?

Hey Joseph, apologize for delayed response...yes, that was the exact issue I was having. It hasn't happened in quite a while; it has happened only once since I brought the Jeep in on recall, and that was in December.

Yeah mine did it after having the shifter replaced after about 5000 miles. The idiots at the dealer keep talking about the body valve being the issue which makes no sense. They are just trying to tear apart my transmission cause they don't know what the issue is.
