son's 2000 Taurus quit while driving. He said it acted like it was running out of gas. we towed it home. turns over and tries to fire but won't start. can hear fuel pump when turn key on.

Check fuel pressure at fuel rail. All because fuel pump is coming on does not necessarily mean that it's producing enough pressure to start the car.

sure dandy, I was thinking the vacuum connection....change the butyl rubber (coal tar and chewing gum) out with silicone that will NEVER crack remain supple always...and you can get many different colors if you order them from summitracing.com~
