Why does my Ford taurus run but won't drive

Automatic trans issues? fluid level? ever serviced? like every 30K ? Cooler added? they liked to break a drum. Without adequate cooling and regular service, this can sometimes be the result.

If you have or change fluid get you a bottle of Trans X it replaces one quart of trans fluid... It is kinda like slick 50 which is for oil... It conditions all moving parts in trans and keeps all seal soft.. My Dad had a 79 Impala Station wagon once that wouldn't take reverse with out the trans warming up for so long, he put Trans X conditioner in it worked fine up until he traded it off.....

If there IS a failed part like a hairline crack in the forward clutch drum, once it reaches the right temp it can lose pressure. There is an updated part and you can improve the trans cooler, but installing a repaired unit is the way. What you find on yours ? You have to do the system prechecks, pick out what it does exactly, when, test for that and or run system pressure tests to verify. Trans shop, who knows, your particular build or run of the group could even have a simpler easier and cheaper cause ?
