They did away with the transmission dipstick now a days to make you take it to a shop to have the trany fluid checked. The idea is so you do not inadvertently put the wrong trany fluid in when filling or topping it off. There is a plug to pull to check the trany fluid like on standard transmissions. Where your plug is located I would not know unless I looked.

They did not do away with the transmission dipstick on the Impala. I own a 2017 Impala with the 3.6 V6 which uses the same transmission as the 4 cylinder. When you open the hood, the transmission dipstick/filler tube is located on the front drivers side of engine/transmission......It has a twist off cap which looks like a power steering reservoir cap. You twist the cap to loosen and remove it....Dipstick is attached to the underside of that cap. It is not like an engine oil dipstick where you grab onto a loop to pull a dipstick out of a tube.
