Engine Power on 2017 Malibu

Asked by Guru25P8Q Feb 22, 2020 at 03:49 PM about the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I didn’t drive the car for about 7 months. I just
jumped it and the engine light came on and a
message saying that the engine power is
reduced. It wouldn’t exceed 10mph or about
2000 revs.
Could it be that the 1/2 tank of gas is bad?
And could I fill it with premium gas to dilute
the bad gas?

Most likely the battery went completely dead. On many newer vehicles if this happens the computers will need to be flashed to restore the memory. Even when the battery is replaced, which you should do, the electronics need to stay powered up during the replacement. Best to visit your local Chevrolet Dealer and let them fix it. Hope that helps! Check air intake hoses and connections. Check battery terminals to make sure they are tight, check all grounds to make sure they are clean and tight.
