warning light beeping while driving in 2017 Sienna

Asked by Barbara Jul 27, 2018 at 12:10 PM about the 2017 Toyota Sienna SE Premium 8-Passenger FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello-  yesterday the "!" warning light started flashing and beeping while I
was driving.   It beeps whenever I give the car gas (in reverse or in drive) but
stops blinking and beeping when the car is stopped.  There are no other
"messages" or lights lit up on the dashboard.  I called Toyota and they
couldn't figure it out.  Maintenance hadn't heard of a problem like this.  It's
incredibly annoying to drive while it's beeping and I'm wondering if I can turn
the beeping sound off somehow.  It's getting looked at tomorrow.

I just had the same issue with my 2015 Sienna. Did you figure out the issue?

A door is a little open. Check the doors.

My wife had the same issue, she stopped to get gas and had pulled the hood lever instead of gas lid and didn’t realize it so the hood wasn’t completely latched!

By any chance did you figure out how to fix this because the exact thing is happening to me.

We’ve checked everything, even oiled the lock ... it is still beeping!

Thanks to everyone that said hood was open. Didnt realize I had pulled the wrong latch when I got gas. It has also happened but not a constant beep when the back lift door wasnt shut all the way.

This is happening to me on my 2017 Sienna as well. When the car is on the maintenance screen shows the hood is open. I have checked and double checked and it is clearly closed and latched and still it thinks it’s open. I pulled the front grill off and unbolted the latch mechanism from the frame it mounts to. On the back of it the is a small electronic sensor that is supposed to tell the system that it is latched or not. I believe this may have shorted or failed somehow. Attached are pics of the latch mechanism and sensor behind it. I just now found this so I’m not yet sure if this is the problem.

Check your hood . It happened to us after we get gas. I stepped on the wrong latch. Didn’t realized the hood was open.

Thank you! We are on a road trip and after our last gas stop our 2015 started beeping. Google took us here after we checked all the doors and started panicking. It was the hood. Phew!

Just don’t lower your A/C temp to less than 65 degree Fahrenheit

Thank you for advising to check the hood. The owner's manual said "stay calm".Lol. It was the hood after all.
