How do I remove the rear seat?

I'd like to know how to remove the back of the rear seat & leave the bench. I can't fit a dog crate in the cargo area (I didn't have the dog when I bought the car last year).

2016 Rav4 hybrid here. I have tried mightily to pull up the bench as shown in 55's schematic (thanks!), but it will not budge. Got tips?
