i have a 1999 ford contour 24 valve v6 2.5, mycontour over heated and shut off the fuel does it also have a shut off for the ignition ?

my 96 contour gl (188,000 mi) just passed smog. 2 weeks after i was parking my car and the OD/off light came on. next day i went to drive and my check engine light has come on. can you diagnose? 1 Answer

the cars shifting in either mode OD on/off works fine, but engine light stays on

I have a 2000 ford contour...had to replace the fuel pump and sensor after they checked the catalictic converter and found that it did not need replacing...Now check engine light is on...car makes a funny jerking move like it's trying to get the gas to move. Or something...after driving it for awhile I get back in the car after about 2 or 3 hours car won't turn over...all lights are on...no radio is on...car alarm not activated...now, does anyone know why this is happening? 3 Answers
