What can be the cause of my car not starting sometimes?

I have a 1999 Ford contour and when
I go to start the car it will turn over
but not crank, if I try a couple hours
later it will start.

Could be a number of things. I would buy a cheap pressure gauge and see what pressure you have. Could be a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad fuel pump. Before spending a ton of money, you could just do a tune up. Change the plugs, wires, filters. Buy some throttle body cleaner and give your throttle body a good clean as well as your IAC.
