The heater is not working

Try replacing the evap sensor. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion- t60474_ds717654. Most of the people on this particular thread are dealing with A/C issues. My mothers was a heating issue. Replaced the evap sensor and the heat is now back to normal, to the point of having to crack the windows a bit when it gets too hot for me, but not the kids. On this vehicle the dealerships are nightmares. Replacing this part was inexpensive and worked for my mother's Rogue. Rock Auto has the exact same part, yet it's listed as a "heater core temperature sensor". Nissan part # is 27723-4BUOA. I've seen the part listed as 4 different names, but it's the same part, same location in car. driver's side right foot, take off that panel, look up and left and you'll see where it's plugged in, 1/2 turn CCW, and a small screwdriver to pop off old one, about a 5 minute job. Just a bit of a tight spot. Good luck. the link above has pics, just scoll down til you see them.
