Car turns off while running

I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Sport, with 19,000 miles.  Over the last few weeks, my car beeps/rings, like a warning, when I look at my dashboard, I don't see any warning message.  Now, over the past 2 weeks, my car turns off while driving.  This morning it happened 3 times in the span of 1 mile!  This time I looked at the display and it noted, "To Shift Vehicle Must Be Stopped".  This is inconvenient, but mostly scary.  I'm lucky to travel in a very low circulated road, but if I was in city traffic, I would be rear ended!  Should I just get rid of the car?  After reading all the posts, I'm hesitant to take it in to the dealership.

Are you not still under warranty? If so, get it to the dealer ASAP! You paid for the warranty, and this sounds like a serious safety issue, so get it back to them and get it fixed.
