Back-up and blind spot sensors will occasionally fail

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving on the highway, the blind spot sensors were working fine all
along. They then stopped working for a few hundred clicks. During that time,
I switched then sensors off/on using the button on the dash. My wife and I
could see the warning lights come on that are located on the side mirrors. I
tried several times to put on my blinkers while a car was beside us or
passing us. The sensor system did not beep like it normally does. The
sensors started working and have been working ever since Aug 2/21. I just
forgot about till now when my wife told me the backup sensors failed her the
other day when she was backing up. Almost ran into the car behind her that
was backing up as well. Can't find any posts on the net about this happening
to anyone else. Does anyone hear know of any instances and perhaps the
remedy?

Update: While driving yesterday, I verified that the blind-spot detection sensors work. As the name implies, they do not warn you if you try to switch lanes with a car beside you but they do warn you if the car is nearing your rear bumper. But we did see then fail for a few hundred kilometers during our trip. The backup sensors are still flaky. Taking it to the dealer so they can check with their computer.

Dealer checked out the car yesterday and could not find anything wrong with the sensors. They indicated that the backup sensors do not provide a warning if the object behind the car stops moving. the object must be in motion in order to be picked up by the sensors. I'm still not 100% confident that nothing is wrong with the sensors. We will drive with more caution in case they stop working again.
