2017 RAM 1500 Big Horn Keeps Unlocking Itself

Asked by Wes May 01, 2018 at 09:51 PM about the 2017 RAM 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Over the past couple weeks I've gone out to get in my truck
and it was already unlocked.  I have made a habit to make
sure it's locked using the FOB, but low and behold every
morning it's unlocked.  I've removed batteries from the
FOB's and still did it.

This hasn't ever been an issue before and I haven't been
able to find a thread anywhere on this so I'm hoping I can
get some insight here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMWjJ-LZJr4 I don't know what to tell you and there's an epidemic of that problem with Dodges. They might recall it soon but I don't know. My friend just bought a Dodge with that problem and the dealership told him that there's nothing they can do

Well... I decided to try something and it worked. My driveway is at a slight incline and I usually back it in. Every morning it's unlocked. Two nights in a row I've pulled it in to the driveway and it stays locked. Could it be an issue with it being unlevel?! Flat surface at work and stays locked. Flat surface at stores and shops, stays locked. Parking it on an incline facing down, and it unlocks. This is just very odd.

It's a Key FOB issue. On the inner part of the rubber pads are small metallic discks. When they become lose they make contact between the lock and unlock buttons. This causes the windows to roll down and automatically unlocks. Just had mine repaired and it's as good as new now. I had it done at the local flea market by a guy that specializes in FOBs and it cost me $30.

I can say for certain that my 2014 Ram 1500 does not have a key fob issue. I removed batteries from both fobs. Still unlocks ( drivers door only) by itself. Oddly this seems to only happen in my driveway. I have not noticed it when in other locations. Dealer is clueless!
