2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn

Asked by Johnnathan Nov 17, 2020 at 12:16 PM about the 2017 RAM 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck has 42,000 miles exactly, I just
bought it almost 2 months ago. I haven't had
any issues until now. I go to turn my truck on
and it just clicked one time didn't turn over
nothing. Checked the battery it's not dead but
I jumped it anyways and it started right up
drove it about 50 miles to dinner and when I
got in about 2 hours later same thing. Jumped
it again drove 50 miles back home. Next day
just clicks again. Has anyone else had this
issue and if so how was it resolved?

Batteries are still suspect, so are unclean battery posts and connectors. An easy test for now is get your voltmeter, put prongs on positive and other on negative. Now put the prongs on just the battery cable connectors. I’ve actually gotten around 12 volts on battery posts, and only 1 volt on the connectors. If you don’t have a voltmeter, just clean the battery posts and connectors. Not having a clean connection here can cause all kinds of weird problems.
