Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have my 2003 Honda Accord v6 getting a clutch
replaced at Canadian Tire, and they called me
saying I need a new flywheel also... The car started
perfect before hand and I dont really want to sink
another grand into it ontop of 1500 cost and labour
of a new clutch... Only paid 1700 bucks for the car,
let me know what you guys think! Thanks

Flywheels need to be resurfaced or replaced when installing a new clutch. The problem may be with the flywheel surface, not the ring gear. Ask them Why it needs replacing. Sometimes is is about the same price to resurface or replace.

I went there to look at it and it was pretty black. Will there be issues if I tell them to just bypass a resurface or new flywheel?
The clutch will chatter and you will rue the day you did it the wrong way.

Explain what will happen haha I know the basics but when it comes to this it confuses me bud
I don't think I can explain judder except to say you will hate your car and yourself for making a bad decision. You will then be paying to do it all over again. I promise!

Would I be able to grab the Flywheel off the car and resurface it myself with a palm sander, brake cleaner, and than buff it out afterwards?

Like I said.. I know more about small engine repair. Not to much about hard parts on cars haha
