My 2017 Honda Pilot emissions system problem.

Asked by Guru99S2KS Oct 09, 2020 at 08:25 PM about the 2017 Honda Pilot EX AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2017 Honda Pilot, 63,0000 malfunction indicator light set a diagnostic
trouble code that stated emissions system problem.  I took it to dealer who
stated that it either needed fuel injectors or software update. I noticed that
2017 Pilots had fuel injector problems.  The dealer  updated the software
and emission light went off. Dealer stated that it may last two days, or two
weeks. My question is does updating the software really take care of a fuel
injector issue, or does this just buy me time before the injectors have to be
replaced.

Updating the software probably updated the fuel trims and or the fuel management, not the injector themselves. As you stated there is a manufacturing defect with the injectors and Honda is replacing them with a new model. OEM Injectors are 305's and being replaced with the newer 315's. Your at that mileage that you will get the check engine light for the injectors. Sorry.
