1999 ford explorer Eddie baurer Awd

If I remove the front axles and transfer case
for awd can I still drive the vehicle while
rebuilding the transfer case I think I can but
not totally sure

The transmission will still be in for the rear wheels I'm just wanting to take the front axles out and the awd trans case to rebuild it I have already taken the shaft out from trans case to transmission
