Jeep Liberty will not turn over

Asked by Ruthnie Jun 06, 2020 at 10:22 AM about the 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

New battery. Regular oil changes. New starter.
New alternator. New timinf belt. New steering
column. When I turn the key after 1 or 2 trips,
lights and radio come on but the jeep won't turn
over.

Waited in the car 30 minutes for a tow and heard a
click. Gut told me try it again and it started.  What
is the issue? Engine wasn't overheated. No
maintenance lights. 128k miles. I know she's old
but I can't afford a new car right now.

You mentioned a new steering column, was the ignition lock replaced? Did this happen right after that?
