Battery light stay on real dim

Double check your battery connections. Also the negative battery connections on the frame and motor. Sounds like you might have one loose.

Check and see if the new battery needs to be mated with the computer to the car. At my old age I forget the term, but I believe it needs to be matched to the car's computer before the computer will recognize it. Sounds strange but a GM service writer told me this.
