brake lights stay on all the time without pressing the brakes

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 yukon denali brake lights stay on all the time without pressing the brakes - is this a faulty brake sensor?  I've heard I need to replace the sensor located underneath the dashbaord behind the brake pedal - does this seem logical

My 4 Runner was doing the same thing and found the brake pedal lever where the pushrod from the brake light sending unit touches has a small rubber insert that goes between the push rod of the sending unit and the brake pedal lever that inserts into a small hole in the brake pedal lever that dilapidated. $1.00 part
