Question type: Maintenance & Repair

99 explorer OHV engine.  Using an OHM meter on the coil's secondary I get 13.1 ohms
on banks 1 & 4 and banks 2 & 5.. That would indicate it is over as the repair manuel
states reading should be between 6.5 and 11.5 K Ohms.  The remaining bank is within
specs.  Does it need replacing, some say the 13.1 reading is OK.

I checked my coil (single coil application) a few months ago with a cheap multimeter and came out with a higher than allowable resistance. I then took my "Better" multimeter and checked it. With the better meter it came within specs. One thing, I personally would just pull the plugs on the questionable bank after a short time and if you're not getting full voltage from the coil, you'll see the plug a bit darker than it should be.
