My battery died this morning and I jumped it.  Auto Zone said the battery is fine
but now everything works but the DVD player.

Yep, the answer to this problem is the dying battery. Mine was going out and I had it replaced, but the shop used the memory saver to ensure my settings would not be deleted. When the battery was changed, the DVD player had the same problem because all of the settings were saved. When I pulled out the 20 amp radio fuse (#29 on the passenger side panel), the player started working again. You could also just disconnect the negative terminal on the battery too.
