Under severe use ... you can start with the radiator cap Under TLC use ... you may get another 50 to 100K .... usually things like electric motors (Blower, fan, windows and maybe some accessory's like Cruise control ...etc.) if the engine was well maintained ( regular oil change, fresh coolant etc) you could get good service. Where you live is a good indicator too ... if you live near a large city ... forget it but if you are a ways out ... go for it

Which engine? That year there were two v6's available. Some older 4.0 pushrod engines left over from the previous year and the newer 4.0 ohc engines. The older pushrod type engine is a workhorse, I have one in my 99 explorer and it is ticking along fine with over 200K. The OHC engines had problems early on with cam tensioners and guides.
