I have a jeep 2002 with a motor that "knocks" we still owe $2,700 on this vehicle. Should i invest $3,000 for a motor? I am about zapped as far as extra cash. What are my options?

This vehicle has only ran for about 3 months with no problems. It has constantly been in
the shop for repairs. Not really a big fan of sinking more $$ into it but do not know of any
other options at this point.Hoping for some advice!!!!!!!

A knock could be anything, from a connecting rod, to a pushrod, to a loose rocker,or lifter???? take a wooden pole or small wooden baseball bat, and with the motor running press one end against your ear and the other, in different places of the engine, It will work like a Dr.'s stethoscope and you will hear exactly where the knocking noise is coming from..."IT REALLY WORKS"......hope this helps

th2002: NEVER BUY A NEW MOTOR, YOUR LOCAL JUNK YARD IS FULL OF JEEP IN-LINE 6'S OR 3.7 V6'S, THE BEST THING TO DO IS TRYING TO FIND ONE IN A JEEP STILL, BEFORE THEY PULL IT OUT, THAT WAY YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUE MILEAGE OF THE MOTOR, GOOD LUCK TO YOU....hope this helps

I have tried about ten camshaft sensors on a Jeep Libert 2002 3.7engine exactly the same and it has not worked, so I want to know what should we do with the vehicle for it to work again? 3 Answers

The original camshaft sensor has been misplaced that is why we have tried many others but the same type but it still does not start the vehicle.

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty that has about 136,000 miles on it. It has received every required servicing including and oil and filter change every 3600 miles. Right now, between servicings I have to put in 1 to 2 quarts of oil. I have asked my service representative, Jake at York Jeep about it and he says that it is just because it is an older car. I have talked to a couple mechanics, who basically said "that's crap" and that if my car has received all its servicings this should not be happening.
