Slow crank speed when starting 99 Explorer

i have a 99 Ford Explorer 4.0 XLT and the other day I went
to start it and it cranked very slow. I had to try Turing it
over several times before it started. It seemed very
sluggish to tur but then loosened up and started. Then
today I go to start it and it barely turned over, did not start.
I put jumper cables on and it started but the crank speed
was still slower than it should have been... the battery isn't
brand new but it isn't that old (I'm not sure exactly how
old I just bought this truck). What should I be looking at to
start diagnosing

I would have the battery and your alternator tested and also clean and tighten the battery cables.
