99 Ford Explorer will turn over but won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 99 ford explorer xlt won't start. It will turn over,
but it will not start. It died while driving down the
road like it ran out of gas, but currently is on a half
tank. I cannot smell fuel currently so i don't think it
is a broken line.

just a thought but it might be your Alt or EMC
Check the fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge. One can be purchased for twenty bucks. Has the fuel filter been changed in the past seventeen years. It's beneath the drivers side door attached to the frame. Looks like a small beer can with a fitting on each end.
Check the fuel pressure at the rail with the engine off, key on. It you get no pressure or little pressure it is hopefully a clogged filter or bad fuel pump. Checking for voltage at the pump will require you drop the tank. You can also check and see if the emergency fuel cutoff button tripped. It's usually inside the vehicle behind a kick plate. You can test it easily.
