When did Jeep include ABS?

Looking to purchase a 2001 Wrangler and I see the ABS indicator in the control panel.  It
never comes on and I'm told that not all 2001 Wranglers come with ABS.
Knowing very little about cars how can I tell if this comes with ABS (and the light is
broken) or it just has an erroneous light on the control panel?

The light never comes on. Salesman said it might not come with ABS, that maybe it was an option in 2001. Not wanting to rely solely on the salesman I was fishing around for some more input. Turns out he was telling the truth, it is an option for that year. Thanks!
