What is your goal? There are better investments that will yield better results, check into a tuner (computer tweaking on a dyno). Headders on an engine are after you improve intake / fuel increases. There are optimal tuning gurus that can help you. Just google tuning the 3.8 mustang.
Mark speaks the truth ! ! ! The car has to breath before it can exhale.
I would put an intake and exhaust on first, and a chip.if u swap out the rear end gears its like day and night. I did this to my 2002 v6 and I smoked gts.
Before making any mods I suggest you make sure the heads are in good shape. While he 3.8 is a good motor the heads do have a tendency to warp on certain model years.
What kind of chip should I get? I already have cold air intake and custom exhaust
If you have the intake and exhaust I would switch the rear gears.its a big difference.
What does that mean? What are the rear gears of my car? My 99 Mustang is an automatic
Here are some stats on Mustang Performance It my be better to just upgrade to a Cobra cost wise... 1999 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra 0-60 mph: 5.4 sec Quarter Mile: 13.9 sec 1999 Ford Mustang V6 0-60 mph: 8.6 sec Quarter Mile: 16.5 sec 1999 Ford Mustang GT 0-60 mph: 5.5 sec Quarter Mile: 14.1 sec
It's your rear axle.take it to a performance shop that does mustangs and ask them. It's about$1000-$2000. Price may be different for auto, year, and where you live. Depends on what your looking for speed wise. The other had a good point.if you want a lot might be better to go cobra. I did
