jeep cranks but won't turn over.

Asked by cep312 May 26, 2014 at 09:45 AM about the 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 96 jeep was running great the day before.I went to start it the next day and it just cranked.I thought it might be a fuel pump or fuel filter so i sprayed starting fluid down the air intake but nothing. So I ruled them out.Next i pulled a plug to see if i was getting a spark.I was not.I replaced the plugs(they were due anyway) and the ignition coil but it still won't start.Wires are original and on tight Anybody know what it might be?

Make sure you get an OEM CPS.. I through in one from Autozone. Didnt work. Rewired the wire harness. DIdnt work. Bought an OEM sensor and hooked up the old harness, fired right up.

Check the wiring from bottom of fuse box in engine bay. I've had same issue, put new crank sensor in, went well for a little while, then today it would crank but wouldn't start, no dash signals except for abs light. Once wiring had been fiddled with she started like normal.
