Car won't start

Asked by Zack Mar 06, 2017 at 09:43 PM about the 1980 Mazda RX-7 Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove my car into my garage, parked it for a month
or so and went to start it and it won't start. I
replaced the battery and I replaced the ignition
switch. Could it be a bad starter? When I put the
key in the ignition it doesn't do anything. I'm
wondering if it could be the starter or maybe
messed up wires/connections. That's all I got, if
there's any other possible reasons please shoot
them my way. Thank you

So this can be a few things. I am assuming when you say it is a no start and a no crank. I would first check to see if any of the fuses are blown. If not and your lights still work it can be a starter going bad. One thing to try is if you know where your starter is located tap it lightly with a hammer or wrench. While tapping it lightly have someone try to start the car. If the car starts then the starter is going bad. This is a temporary resolution and will probraly only work for a few weeks. You will want to get the starter changed as soon as possible. Below is a video on for you to view first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4wLkc08Zwo
