Tire Sizes
Asked by Nancy Oct 31, 2016 at 03:21 AM about the 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4-Door RWD
Question type: Shopping & Pricing
When I bought new tires for my
jeep the salesman said he would
look up the recommend size for
my vehicle. He suggested and
installed 235/75R15's. Great.
Except I was pulled over for
speeding and got a $125 ticket.
Doing 67 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Help! What can I tell the judge?

You can tell the judge your story, but it is your responsibility to know the accuracy of the speedometer. I would just pay the fine and chalk it up to experience.
Thanks Bob. I kind of figured that was what I would do. I will chalk it up to experience and also when buying new tires I will know what I am buying and the unseen consequences. Thanks for the answer you gave. Really helpful.
The tires did not cause your speedo to be off that much. You have a different problem with the speedometer. Those tires where probably the stock size. If you had 44's on it that would explain the problem but you did not.

You were asking about a 1977 Buick. Garage keep. Original paint. Only 22,500 miles. Never was driven in rain. Was always wiped off every 2 days. The interior is all original. I just don't want to keep it any more. If you are interested. Cal me at. 859-583- 0820 I'm not going to give it away. Because I know it's worth more And if you are a old car collector. It would be a winner for you or someone else. Thank you Also if u are interested I'll get photos to you
Wrong post Hope2228. My question was about tires. Thank you though for answering. Happy Halloween!
Once again thank you for the reply. I looked up on website about the difference if any it would make. It said if speedo read 55 mph with new tires I would actually be traveling 62.7 mph???
