2017 cr-v gas tank size
I bought a 2017 CR-V LX a couple of weeks ago and have filled the tank twice. Both times I drove it until the gas light came on (and then some) and both times I was only able to put 10-11 gallons in. I was under the impression the tanks held 14 gallons but doesn't make sense that I can only put 10 in after the light has already been on. Any suggestions???

The light comes on before you run out of gas. If it came on when you ran out then you wouldn't need the light. Running out of gas can fry your fuel pump so don't run it too low.
Your owners manual will tell you the gas tank size.
I understand the light comes on before you run out of gas, but I've never had a light come on when I'm supposed to still have about 4 gallons of gas. The light came on and I was only able to put 10 gallons in.... I would think I could put about 13 in if the tank truly held 14.
Just remember that you have 4 gallons in reserve which in your car is worth about 100 miles.
I have the same problem with mine! When I called Honda, they told me the tank has 2.1galons reserve. Still doesn't make sense! I can't fill up more than 11.1 gallons! One time I went more than 25 miles after the light came on and was able to fill 11.8 gallons...
There is no "reserve" tank. All you get is a warning when the gas gets to a certain level.
Genius! And how you call that level?
Yes, Same "problem"....new 2017 CRV and the low fuel light comes on at 35 miles left every time! But, my manual says it has a 14 gallon tank; and yet she has to swallow less than 12 gallons! What is up with this? Is the gas gauge not understanding the tank level; or is the manual not correct? This is my 4th CRV and I LOVE the 2017 changes; but the fuel thing is not like Honda to have so incorrect and misrepresented in my manual. Suggestions? Please....and Honda PLEASE. My last three CRV's ran true to fill up form...what is up with this fuel discrepancy please?
I tested mine yesterday. I ran it for about 35 miles after the “fuel low” warning. I was watching the range display drop mile after mile until it hit zero. I then filled it up and was able to pump exactly 12 gallons. The car has a 14 gallon tank. All this means is that Honda doesn’t want you to run out of fuel so they’re being very conservative. If you live on the edge and wish to push the envelope, just understand that when the range display hits zero, you still have two gallons in the tank, or about 60 miles. Now stop complaining. It’s a great car.
People come on really Honda CRV unfortunately I have expertise at running out of gas because I've been poor after the light goes off in the miles go all the way down to zero you still have a couple gallons of gas there run the car out of gas keep a gallon in your back fill it up then go to the gas station you will have 14 gallons in the tank
13 at the gas station 1 gallon out of the gallon that you have for you when you run out of gas they just give you a really safe amount of miles once the light and the number of miles goes to zero exact amount of gallons I do not know but I do know the card does hold 14 because I've ran out all 14
I have Honda CR-v EX-L 2008 model which has 15.3 gallon fuel tank. I know my car well and highest i fill the gas was 14.67 gallon....as someone mentioned, it has ample amount of reserver. After the first sign of light(warning to fill the gas) comes, i always runs 50-60 miles before filling the gas. When your odometer reading says "how many miles approx it will go on existing fuel" it can go 0 miles, it will have 1.5 gallon fuel and it can go 25-30 miles. I tested my Cr-v by totally emptying out gas(just to know my car's limit in emergecny situation), while having 2 gallon fuel spare with me in car and tested twice....
I fill up car 1 hour drove needed gas again
I drove for one hour after filled up . range display just drop to E. Just like that. I watch it drop when i turn it on. Where did my gas go?

I bought a used 2015 Honda CRV. I have tested this a bit and when i had 67 miles left on my tank so maybe 2 gallons left, I put in 14.8 gallons in. Another time I had 38 miles left (no light yet) and I put in 15.4 gallons. Now, the pump does click around the 10 gallon mark but knowing it has or is supposed to have 15.3 gallon tank, I continue to pump. It's a pain in the butt cause it will continue to click if I don't get the lever just in the right spot. I have never had this issue filling up with any other car before. Normally it clicks once, and then you know maybe another 2 clicks and you are full. With this Honda, I have no clue how much it should take and I don't want gas spilling out everywhere but i also know if I stopped at 1 or 2 clicks I am not totally full.
I have the same problem. Either it comes on way early, or the gas tank size is actually 12 gallons--not 14.
I bought a 2019 AWD and have the same complaint with fuel everyone else is having. My car has yet to take more than 11.5 gallons and I have run it down to 5 miles left, according to the range meter. Either they have miss calibrated or there is only a 12 gallon tank. I have owned accords and we have an Odyssey. Both were extremely accurate. The CRV is not and it’s very frustrating.
