Possible Starter issue

My 99Ford Ranger has dash lights when I turn the key the truck won't start

Check your batter first you could have a dead cell which lets the lights work and will also let your truck start sometimes. You can have it tested at Advance or Autozone. If you take the starter off they can test it also. They will do all this for free. Only other thing I can think of would be the ignition it self but doubtful that's it. Start with the battery and then the started.
