car shuddered and died - left me stranded in the rain

Asked by jenahw Jan 11, 2014 at 07:23 PM about the 2004 Kia Rio Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Any idea what could be wrong with my 2003 Kia Rio? It stalled out today minutes after leaving my driveway. Re-started multiple times but stayed running for shorter and shorter time and eventually wouldn't start at all. Left me stranded. This only happened one other time on a wet day (today was rainy, too). that day it just stalled but then re-started. Car kind of shuddered before it died. Thoughts??

A bad maf - mass air flow sensor or a bad iac - idle air control valve.
