Oil consumption 2018 Ford F150
Asked by GuruQ15BC Nov 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM about the 2018 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I purchased my 2018 F150 from a non Ford dealership. It had about 28,000
miles on it when purchased now has about 35,000. Brought for second oil
change and Valvoline Oil change place said that oil was not registering on
dip stick. They recommended adding Lucas Oil Treatment. I said will talk to
my mechanic. I have not had chance to see him yet.
What recourse do I have since purchased from non Ford Dealership? Will
Ford Dealership help me out? How do I get a copy of original window sticker
of my vehicle since I am the second owner of this vehicle?
Any suggestions would be great?

I wouldn't put any treatments in it . what type/viscosity oil did it have ? What warranty did you get ? Is it running O.K. now , no ticks or noises ? I would keep an eye on the oil and do my own changes when it gets brown , it'll look black when it comes out .
There are a lot of 5.0 F150's that use oil. Contact your Ford dealer as you should have a little bit of warranty left.
5W20 is in there now. It runs ok, but some time there is a clicking or dieseling sound, like bad gas when driving, not all the times, just between 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. I can see the gears on the screen when it shifts. I have the manufacturers warranty. Its is stated in the sales agreement. I don't know a dealership in my immediate area to trust, I am in Fairfield county, CT and I have heard horror stories from most of the Ford dealerships.
If you would just open the owner's manual and read it, it states that there are NO OIL ADDITIVES required. DO NOT PUT LUCAS OIL THICKENING AGENT IN IT!!! Take it to a Ford dealership for evaluation under warranty. Most Ford dealerships have honest shops.
Hey Bob! How is your dealership on the Super Duty death wobble?
We are installing the upgraded steering stabilizer and checking the tire pressure and tire condition per the TSB. Small dealership (just me in the parts department), but we have seen several of those.
I really want a Super Duty but this problem has me a bit worried. Do you have any 2020's in stock yet? :)
No 2020s yet here, I can't wait to get a look at a Superduty with the new "Godzilla" 7.3 gas engine.
