2018 ram 1500 8 speed transmission deosnt shift pass 3rd gear unless i restart
the truck has anyone experienced this? it works fine afterwards and check
engine light turns off after a few drives

Have the codes checked next time the check light turns on. That may give you a place to start with diagnosis.

Ok so that maybe just gear speed sensor, but to find out for sure you need a live data scan so they can watch each sensor as it does it’s thing and then replace or repair the circuits, so that it why the shifting stops right the error.
