The owner's manual is going to tell you that the wrench light is simply a "check engine" light meaning there is a fault code stored by the car's onboard computer. It is okay to drive it until you can set up an appointment for any Ford dealer to scan the car for fault codes and fix it under warranty. On a new car, many dealers are willing to send someone to your work or home to swap cars with you so they can work on it. They call it a courtesy car, and you can drive it while they do oil changes and repairs on your new car. Don't miss work.

yeah I checked the manual and then it redirected me to the service manual, at the end of it I went to Fords website and what Im coming up is powertrain sign. I do have an appointment scheduled for this Saturday for a basic maintenance check up so I was trying to figure out if I should just wait till my appt. or just call and see what I need to do and if I need to take it immediately. my thing is I work far, about 28 miles away from my house and that's the only thing that worries me as far if it's safe to drive it all the way to work and back home for two days.

This is a good question for the Ford dealer. Following his instructions will assure you the warranty will be honored if anything should happen. I really think it would be okay to drive but you have to hear that from them to protect your warranty.

Did anyone get any answers from the dealership on this wrench symbol being shown mine's at the dealership now they say there's not even a code to read after displaying playing this... that doesn't make sense to me as a light comes on on your dash there is a code to be read am I not right.?

Mine has come on twice. Scan for codes no codes. Shut off car and restart and wrench gone. Wonder if it is some kind of electronic gremlin

I had a wrench light, took it immediately to the dealership which is less than 5 miles away. They said they ran a diagnostic on it and that "it did not throw any codes" then they turned the light off manually and sent me home. Fast forward two months... I get a picture of an engine. I got an appointment for two days after it came on so I just drove my husbands car and let it sit in the driveway. At my appointment (I drove my car to the appointment, 5 miles) and the coolant had leaked throughout my entire engine so they told me I had to pay $8400.00 for a new engine. Found out there is a class action law suit on this issue.

I currently have an independent mechanic troubleshooting the wrench icon on my 2017 Fusion(<60k)

my best understanding is this.. my 2013 fusion se would light up a wrench symbol when i was pushing the car a little hard ..i.e. past 60mph and when i shut it off for a while symbol was gone....well you have two particular circuit board...one for engine and one for drive train. And a hairline crack in the circuit board which will expand(albeit microscopically) or a weak solder joint ...once cooled down a bit seems like there's no problem, however continual long term or high speed driving will eventually worsen the underlying problem which should then throw your ford into limp mode. Unfortunately most mechanics at the dealerships and perhaps elsewhere don't know what to do if the car doesn't store a code, but you can order these replacement boards and change them yourself...I haven't but my research indicates i could...for now i just keep it below 60, sometimes still comes on after about an hour of driving.. god luck
