Battery issues

Asked by GuruN995D Oct 07, 2019 at 04:06 PM about the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had my atlas for a year and have had 2
dangerous battery issues occur. One on a city
side street while on our way to see Hamilton,
Instead of enjoying pre show dinner we had to
get a tow truck and push the vehicle to the
side.  The 2nd was on a 3 lane busy highway
3 hours from home with my 11 year old
daughter when the battery suddenly died. had
to stop traffic and push my vehicle across the
highway to jump start it. I’m afraid to drive the
car since this has happened with two different
batteries. What is my recourse?  Has this
problem been officially identified?

Did you buy the vehicle new? Have the battery replaced again under warranty. It is a common issue on these vehicles, some say a bad batch of batteries from the factory, but you had yours replaced, or did the dealer just charge the old one up? See if there is an updated program for the ECU. So if the battery fails again, I would push the dealer to replace the vehicle.
