I HAVE A 2018 MALIBU. WHEN I PRESS THE GAS FROM THE AUTO STOP POSITION AT A STOP LIGHT, FOR INSTANCE, ONE OF TWO THINGS HAPPENS. EITHER THE CAR JERKS AND THEN MOVES OR IT HAS VERY LITTLE POWER. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE ABOUT 15K MILES. NOW TODAY, AT 30K MILES, IT DID IT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM? IS IT ASSOCIATED WITH A RECALL?

Have you talked to your dealer about this? You should still have warranty coverage.

I have called the dealer. They can't get it in until Monday. I work in Nashville, TN, and live about 50 miles from here. I'm a little afraid to drive it home.

Read the owners manual to see if you can defeat the stop/start nonsense. I believe there is a procedure you can do when you first start the car.
