03 Lincoln ls v8, leak in the notch on the thermostat housing under full cap!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 03 Lincoln ls v8 and it was overheating.
Anti freeze was spraying out and we replaced the
thermostat housing but there seams to be a leak
where the thermostat housing is under the fill cap
comeing out of a "notch" underneath there. All
three parts old and new ones have the same notch.
My question is how can I fix this problem without it
being so hard and expensive and why is that notch
on there?? Thank u

can you send a picture?? did you replace the gaskets?
I don't have a picture but we haven't change the head gaskets. But that's the place coolant is coming from is that factory notch on the thermostat housing. It's sitting in my dads garage he's been working on it.
not sure what you mean..you now say its coming fron the head gasket area?? try and put i little bottle/vile of alum-seal in the water...its 3-4 dollars..
Sorry I wrote that all wrong. I have a picture of what it looks like but I'm not really familiar of where the factory notch is on the thermostat housing is and that is where it's coming from is that notch.
Here I see what it looks like.
We replaced that black cap that's on the thermostat housing twice and still nothing
I found that replacement thermostat housings and caps tend to be mismatched. The housings inside diameter is too large to seal the o-ring. There are two seals in the cap, an o-ring on the neck, and a gasket at the lid. It's probably leaking past the o-ring, which allows is to seep out a weep hole in the housing. I ended up stacking two o-rings together to solve my problem.
@ GuruVW7QK This looks to be my issue. what o-rings did you use to seal the hole?
