Air doesn't work or get cold

Asked by k_cheesy Jun 08, 2015 at 09:40 AM about the 2002 Lincoln LS V8

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

when you turn the air or heat on it comes on but barely blows at all and it's only heat.
Even on high you have to hold your hand on the vent to feel anything. My "Change AC
filter" light is on, i'm not sure if that has anything to do with the air not being cold tho.
Anybody have any ideas?

It probably needs a new A/C compressor and condenser, they don't last forever. And , your car is at about the age when these things fail. It's 13 years old. Fixing your car is the cheapest thing to do. It will cost about $1,000 with labor, parts, new freon, etc. Yeah, it would be a good idea for a new filter as well, but, you're going to need all of it.

I do not know about your vehicle but some vehicle have what they call a cabin filter that would restrict air flow to vents . Ask google does your year vehicle have this filter if it does my have video on how to change.

Also look in your owners manual about the change AC filter light should tell you were the filter is located.
