99 Lincoln Continental shuts off randomly when turning the steering wheel

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has been shutting off when parking- turning the steering wheel all the way to the left or right. Its been doing that for a while but it got worse a few days ago when I was driving and suddenly the steering wheel became really stiff while turning! I almost drove into a divider! Im thinking that my problem is the power steering pump. Any other ideas as to what this might be? Its my first car so I dont know too much about these stuff but with good old Youtube i can change it out. Also, how do i test it to be sure that its the pump? When I asked a friend, he said that it could also be a problem in my steering column. PLEASE HELP!
