1998 navigator runs hard when gas given

what do you mean "runs hard"?....like the timing is advanced too far forward and is "KNOCKIN" because this would be caused by a lean condition and too far in advance timing~....check all vacuum lines and replace them with silicone ones...make sure sensors like the IAT sensor and block temperature sensors are within range and get a NEW air filter, PCV valve and cabin filter while you're at it~
