Ticking sound on downhill deceleration

Asked by newburu07 Sep 20, 2019 at 02:40 PM about the 2018 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm new to Subaru ownership and just purchased a certified-used 2018
Forester.  I've noticed a ticking-like sound that only seems to be present
when going downhill at 40+ MPH.  It seems to be more noticeable when
going downhill on a turn, as well.  I only notice it when my foot is NOT on the
gas, when I'm coasting.  It then seems to present afterwards even on
smaller/slower downhill stretches.

Is this a quirk of Subaru or Forester or something I should take more
seriously and have checked out?  I should mention we still have some time
on our warranty.

This one’s tricky, as it could be anything between dirt on a rotor, a brake pad wear clip, or even a bad CVT! Can you isolate noise location or describe more carefully?

My 2015 Forester does not do this at all. Something is wrong so make this your dealers problem.
