Does anyone have diagram /picture of evap hoses?

Asked by Deborah Dec 10, 2024 at 01:28 AM about the 1998 Ford Expedition 4 Dr Eddie Bauer 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can anyone share a diagram or
picture of the vacuum hoses of
evaporate system and maybe where
parts are under the hood. I just bought
a 98 Ford expedition 5.4 L and not
familiar with this engine. And I’m
showing a PO171. Already replaced
the purge valve under the hood, and I
know I need to replace a few hoses
(they don’t look like they’ve never
been replaced), but would like to know
what hoses to order.

The code tells you where the problem is not what to replace . The clerk at auto zoo sells parts they are not a technician , Spray some penetrating fluid into the ports when you change sensors/solenoids

This code is telling us you have a lean condition on bank 1. That's the side of the engine where cylinder number one is. Check for any obvious vacuum leaks. Check the exhaust system for leaks between the engine and the upstream oxygen sensor. Fresh air being drawn into the exhaust system past the upstream oxygen sensor will set a false lean code. If you have a plastic intake manifold it's probably cracked and leaking. A problem with the EVAP system will set a different code. Jim
