Stuck in 4x4

Asked by Tyrel Aug 31, 2016 at 02:31 AM about the 1998 Ford Expedition 4 Dr Eddie Bauer 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My expedition is stuck in 4x4 High. I have tried putting it in N and putting it in 4
Low then back to 4 High. Then back to 2Wheel then put in drive and go
forward about 30 feet. I have done the same in reverse.

Interesting, I don't know what the problem is.. Is it possible the transfer case motor has failed in its last postion? My 2001 full time awd Eddie Bauer just did something special. It self engaged 4H during a tight slow speed turn.. Without the driver moving the selector switch. Three times the transfer case switched from 4awd to (locked)4H. This model does not have a 2wheel position on the switch. If I find something I'll let you know.
